A letter from the Parents Association

7 March 2023

Dear Parents,

It is great that the Parents’ Association (PA) is back organising in-person social events. We have missed doing so over the last few years.  Since September 2022 we hosted the Junior Infants Coffee Morning; supported the 3rd Class Grandparents’ Day and organised a very well-attended Fund Raising Social event (Quiz).

In November 2022 we held our AGM.  We were delighted that so many parents turned out on the night.  The AGM gave us the opportunity to recruit new members onto the Committee.  This is timely as some PA Committee members are incoming and others have come to the end of their term.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the members who recently stood down from the Committee.  In particular, I would like to thank Barbara Mahon who successfully and with great energy and enthusiasm carried out the role of Chairperson of the St Colmcille’s PA for 7 years. Under Barbara’s leadership the PA went from strength to strength and significantly increased its fundraising and social activities.  I would also like to thank Roisin Tallon, Erika Roche, Michael Stout, Kathryn Gorman, Michelle Gaffney O’Reilly, Maeve Carroll, Jenni O’Connell, Emma McCourt for their massive contribution to the work of the Committee over many years.   They are all a huge loss to the Committee.

I would also like to welcome the new Committee members:  Adele Jordan, Susanne Dolan, Marsha McCann, Aine Hickey, Eilish Hogge, Aisha McKenna, Sarah Barnicoat, Alex Keys, Kenny McInerney.

The current PA committee comprises: Lorraine Reynolds (Chairperson), Sinead Devitt, Barbara Kelly, Torunn Stokke Griffin, Laura Cramer, Adele Jordan, Susanne Dolan, Marsha McCann, Aine Hickey, Eilish Hogge, Aisha McKenna, Sarah Barnicoat, Alex Keys, Kenny McInerney.

The role of the PA is to support parents and to work with the school management in the best interests of our children.  We aim to bring parents together to ensure an effective partnership between home and school.  If you wish to get more involved or to volunteer and help out at events, please email stcolmcillespaknocklyon@gmail.com

I am looking forward to working with you and hope to see you at one of our events (volunteering or attending) over the next few months.

Yours sincerely

Lorraine Reynolds
