Parents Association

Dear Parents,

The Parents Association are delighted to be back organising events for the new school year. We had a very successful Junior Infants coffee morning where parents were able to meet other parents from their child’s class, also lovely to meet the new children & parents from room 30. For some parents it was their first child starting school so we would like to welcome them to the school.

We just recently helped at the 50 year celebration of Knocklyon Parish Jubilee. It was wonderful to host this event in the primary school & celebrate the community of Knocklyon. Thanks to all who offered their help setting up & serving tea/coffee & delicious treats and cakes!

We were also delighted to have Stuart Wilson from Zest-life in for a parent talk. In line with our school going Phone Free, Stuart talked about implications of children using smartphones & to create boundaries where kids are safe & secure for the future. 

Since last year, we have organised several events, including grandparents day, 3 confirmation receptions and 7 communion receptions. Again these can only be run when we have enough volunteers to help, so thank you to everyone who gave their time. We also held a coffee morning in June for the parents of 6th class which was a lovely way for parents to say goodbye.

We will shortly be holding our AGM, this is an opportunity for all parents to come along and find out more about the PA and also to meet some other parents. We are always looking for new people to help with the different events so if you can help we would love to hear from you. This year we will also be looking for another member  to join the PA committee as some of the committee members are stepping down.  The current Committee consists of Lorraine Reynolds(Chairperson), Sinead Devitt, Adele Heslop, Suzanne Manning, Barbara Brown, Aine Hickey, Eilish Hogge, Aisha McKenna, Sarah Barnicoat, Kenny McInerney, Hayley Divine, Cora Fitzgerald, Mary Hartigan, Rachel Reilly and Lisa Mongey would like to thank Tracy Griffin & Marsha Lavery for all their hard work with the committee over the last year.

The role of the PA is to support parents and to work with school management in the best interests of our children. We also run fundraisers to support the school. There is one PA which covers both the Junior and Senior schools.
