We had so much fun in Senior Infants this week celebrating ‘Active Schools week’. The children made an effort to be active each day by exercising in their classrooms, enjoying a scavenger hunt on our new fairy trail and lots of fun games in the sunshine. Here are some photos of the fun we’ve been having!

Heading Goes Here

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.- Albert Einstein.

This quote rings true for second class in St Colmcilles Junior National School. We have really enjoyed exploring our outdoor nature trail.

We have a talented bunch here in second class with some budding artists in our midst.

Our STEM skills are through the roof here in second class. The boys and girls have been working very hard designing their own sailboats. How will they sail is the next question?

In second class we love being active. The boys and girls have relished the run around Ireland challenge where we have reached some great landmarks such as Ben Bulben, Carrauntoohill and The Aran Islands.

Trails & Sails

First class have been busy over the while checking out the school’s new wooded nature trail.

We celebrated World Earth Day recently and have been learning about lots of different ways to help our planet. We have made a promise to help the earth by reducing, reusing and recycling.

We have also been running around Ireland each day for Active Schools. Some of the locations we have reached so far are: Cliffs of Moher, Sliabh League Cliffs, Newgrange and Carrauntoohil.

Our caterpillars have just arrived last week so we can’t wait to watch them eat and grow into beautiful butterflies soon. Stay Tuned.

Wooded Nature Trail

In senior infants we have been busy learning all about space! The children loved watching a video of Neil Armstrong taking his first steps on the moon and it has inpired us to do lots of artwork, poetry and drama based on the theme of space. Here are some pictures of the fun we’ve been having!
